App is a world that did not really exist a few years ago, and now is all you seem to hear about. Apps, are the fastest growing technology business, and more than 250,000 of them have been produced to keep us all entertained, and in touch with the world. Some of them have been fly by apps that are popular for a month or two, whilst others have become part and parcel of everyday life for many people.

Here are some of the most popular applications that have been used by millions of people:

Twitter – the Twitter app is one of the most used of them all, and it is a simple extension of the main Twitter website, which seems to be the activity of the moment for people in all walks of life.

Kindle – many people are familiar with the Kindle application online, which has become very popular on computers and ipads. Well now the application is available to download and use on the iphone. It does seem like reading an entire book on your iphone would be a little difficult, but this has not stopped it from becoming extremely popular.

Around Me- This is an ingenious application that utilizes Google maps to come up with a whole host of useful information to the user about the area that they are in. It can produce information on pubs, restaurants, travel links, shops, and hospitals, and just about anything you could think of. This app is especially useful when travelling in a new area. If you were looking to buy office furniture in london, this app would help you in many ways.

Adobe Photoshop Express – this is a great app for all those that are into photographing and posting up their photos directly from their iphones. It means that simple editing functions can be carried out without the need to upload onto a computer.

Read it Later – this application is a free one that allows users to easily save pages from the internet to read offline. It is a great tool for those who do not have internet access at home and wish to store up some info. It can also be used to save up how to articles and recipes etc.

Ebay Mobile – this app does not need much explanation at all! It is an easy to use iphone edition of the Ebay service.

Thomson Reuters News Pro – this application is very popular indeed, and it is more than just a simple worldwide news feed. It allows for users to access a whole range of different news coverage depending on their location and interests.

As you can see, there are many apps already on the market that are changing the way that people are going about their daily routine, and all the time, these things are making our lives easier and easier. I suspect that in the not too distant future, people will be able to access anything they want through their iphones, and they will phase out laptops and desk tops in the end.

Hands up if you actually do any work when it gets to 3pm on a Friday afternoon? My hands stayed firmly by my side, apart from that one hellish week when I had the report on school management jobs to complete and I was stuck in the office until nearly 7pm. I almost missed out on my post-works drinks thanks to that little beauty! In a normal week, however, the last hour and a half at my desk is spent doing as little actual work as possible; making plans for the weekend, rearranging all my office stationery, staring out of the window and checking out all the weird and wonderful links that I’ve been sent by friends and family throughout the week. After all, the boss leaves early on a Friday to get home so there’s no-one looking over your shoulder if you decide it’s more important to watch the new “Weebl and Bob” episode than it is to do some actual work.

Weebl and Bob is something I discovered during my first proper job after university. Now, this was a few years ago so internet animation was definitely in its infancy. And ever since then the creator of Weebl and Bob has refused to enhance his product, still keeping the same simple line-drawn characters and basic colour schemes, relying on humour to entertain his thousands, if not millions, of fans.

The brains behind the cartoon, who goes by the name Weebl himself, also creates corporate animations and Flash games for other websites, all of which appear on his site along his “just for fun” cartoons. I may be revealing myself as a bit of a nerd here when I admit to having actually bought t-shirts, hoodies and stuffed toys of my favourite characters from the Weebl store. Much more entertaining than recruitment reports!

June Brown was amazing on Who Do You Think You Are . She began her journey in the East End of London, went to Amsterdam, Madrid, and then Algeria (actually she didn’t go to Algeria, but got help researching it from a genealogist in Spain). If you saw it, you may have been inspired to begin you own search to understand you own roots. Without the bank roll of the BBC, it can seem daunting, but there are a plethora of free online resources that can help you get to grips with your own personal and family history.

The first step, is of course, understanding where your biological parents come from. If this is in doubt at all, you should opt for legal paternity testing. This is often an issue for people who feel that they don’t have any physical resemblance to the father who raised them. It can be a can of worms, but you can get advice and emotional support form a number of online discussion forums such as livestrong or adoption dot com. Many people find strong connections and emotional support from others who have experienced the same thing even though they are unlikely ever to meet. Your next step is to get some books are genealogy and watch some informational videos. You tube is great for free videos and this can point you in the right direction.

If you are trying to get your hands on some good second hand books, there is an amazing website called book mooch. Book mooch is a community of people who swap books online. Basically what you do is register as a member for free and then post the books that you have available to swap. Every time somebody asks for one of your books you earn points in the system, and every time you ask for a book you get points deducted. It helps keep things even, so you pay at your end for the cost of shipping the book, but you don’t have to pay when a book is shipped to you. There are forums as well, so you can get stuck into the community and get books that might not necessarily be listed. If you are planning a find your roots trip, you should head over to the Lonely Planet website. Again, it is a strong community with committed members there to give you the best local tips available.

Social networking is the best thing that has happened to the internet. All you have to do is get hold of accounts that have relaxed privacy settings and you can learn a lot about individuals who are complete strangers. I have discovered that one can learn quite a lot by checking out profiles and accounts of individuals who have made bulk of their private information public.

I found many links that led me to numerous opportunities for teaching English jobs. Well, I was not interested in the same but I passed the information to friends of mine who were very keen on earning some money. There also found useful information about certain products that I was using a regular basis. A bit of inside information about the manufacturing process helped me determine whether the product was really as good as it was claimed.

I even went ahead and introduced myself to a few persons who were friendly enough to accept me as their contact. Having contacts in real world is very important. One of the biggest advantages of the internet is that one can make contact with different individuals without even stepping out of the home.

You don’t have to do anything illegal or illicit. Just have a curious mind and be friendly. You will find that people are more than eager to become a friend of yours on the internet. This simple approach has helped me spend many glorious hours making new friends online. It has helped me improve the quality of my life.

Every so often, but not too often, I come across a web-site so simple, brilliant and genius in its application that I want to run around all my friends houses and shout at them to play it too. This is unusual for two reasons: 1) I hate running and 2) my friends live miles away, so it’d need to be something pretty amazing for me to run absolutely ages to tell them.

In this case, the ever-so-amazing thing is a game. But not just any game, oh no, that’d just be boring.

What makes this game completely and utterly unique is that you play this one in the URL bar at the top of the screen! Yes, the place where the address of the page is.

And yes: I am aware that sounds very dorky. But here’s the thing about that: I’m not a dork in any way, shape or form and I got completely hooked on it in a matter of seconds. You can play the game and see what you make of it by clicking here. Don’t waste any time, get to it, friend!

What has this game taught me? Well, it’s taught me that simplicity is key. You don’t always need an incredible web-site buzzing with activity and new articles appearing every hour. Really, you just need something nobody else has got. If you can get that right then you really can create something extra special and mind-blowingly good! (That even your friend Sarah Jane Szikora will love, even though she hates games even more than you usually do. There you go Sarah, I promised I’d include your name in a blog post and I now have!)

There is virtually nothing that cannot be done on the internet in the present day. In fact the lives of many individuals are woven around the internet. The internet has made it possible to work from home, shop from home, study from home which means you can accomplish many things within the comfort of your house. Shopping online can be very interesting depending on how much you have at your disposal. The more you have to spend, the more the fun in your shopping. Everything there is to buy online has more than one seller; there are legitimate as well as illegal sellers or swindlers. The main issue here is that even legitimate sales outlets have varying prices and without enough price comparison, a buyer may end up paying extra money for what is available at a far cheaper price somewhere else on the internet.

Comparing prices is important in online shopping so as to avoid the bad feeling of being cheated when you discover that what you bought is available at a lower price elsewhere. Whether you are shopping for exterior signs board, clothes or anything at all, it is very wise that you check three or more sites for the same thing before making a decision on where to buy. A few weeks back, I bought a jacket that I really liked online and felt so good about it. To me, it was a good bargain since it was on sales. After paying, I wanted to keep shopping so I visited another website where I discovered that my ‘cheap'jacket was more expensive by twenty pounds. I learnt the hard way that price comparison is a good way to save money.

When it comes to answers, we all want something different: some of us want to know why the sky isn’t green, while others want to know why Meerkats stand on their hind legs and appear all curious. Then there are those who want answers to the biggest questions out there…the really intriguing things that, whether you are religious or not, are things we all think about from time to time: we can’t help it, that’s what you get from being lumbered with a subconscious and the ability to keep thinking and learning progressively. For these questions answered, you may wish to visit Free Webs. I did and it proved very insightful (and weirdly, though I’m now more enlightened, I also now have more questions, most of which I suspect will never be answered).

Obviously it’s all speculative. Unless God himself wrote the web-site, of course, but if he had then you would think he would have publicized it a lot better and given it a much better Google ranking than it has. Or maybe that was all part of his plan? I’m sure we’ll never know that either…

On the aforementioned site you’ll find all kinds of theological questions which have baffled people for many, many centuries, as well as all kinds of information on things which you probably think about every day.Thank goodness for the Internet is all I have to say!

Because of ecological worries and also the energy crisis in the past several years, it would appear that “going green”is definitely a buzz right now (much like solitaire ); through current companies being “green certified”and many more mushrooming into environmentally friendly organizations, the actual philosophy in going green appears to be acquiring the interest. Within current blog posts which I read through there appears to be the general opinion for the perception in which I have experienced some time back in the past: Is the “green trend”actually a craze or perhaps a true life modification?

It’s been stated that each craze or trend usually dies out and also is disapated, and to quite a few this really is absolutely no different. For your genuine environmentalist, along with others which have accepted this particular life prior to the idea truly being trendy, are likely to see it very cynically and also think that an idea in “going green”would be to a particular level based upon consumerism but not always depending on an alteration within a persons life.

Even though I undoubtedly haven’t been your dedicated environmentalist all the way through, I actually do concur nevertheless, which phrases prefer “eco-friendly”, “environmentally secure, “as well as “green life-style”are applied really liberally nowadays in promoting brand-new products and services likewise shocking people who have been in the actual front in these kinds of demanding concerns for decades.

Just how can the intake of products and solutions as well as the actual improvement in this ecosystem become equated? Nicely, regrettably as well as unfortunately, we reside in an extremely acquisitive modern society and also inside a culture solely inspired by consumption, which perhaps it’s accurate which purchasing “green”goods by itself won’t contribute in its entirety in order to conserving in a environment, it can and it has introduced a knowledge to help this ecological problem. Even though I do not challenge in which indeed, it’s strictly determined by advertising and marketing, we have observed an growth in demand with regard to organic and natural goods.

In my opinion, to ensure that actual shift to occur as well as undoubtedly make any difference, (particularly where ecosystem is concerned) there needs to be the remarkable change within individual’s understanding, behavior and most essentially a restored life-style transformation. Only time can tell whether or not of course, if those concepts are able to sink into your National psyche thus genuine transformation could quite possibly take place.

Love ’em or hate ’em, dogs can be hilarious; they’ve always got something to offer, and the only negative thing is that you get bitten every now and again, and if they’re feeling naughty they might unleash a brown disaster on your light beige carpet. But still, they’re just what you need when you get home from a day of calling DNA Testing labs.

Check out the following link and see for yourself how funny they can be: http://www.funnydogsite.com/videos/dog-singing-with-bird.htm

Whatever your taste in funny dogs, there’ll probably be something here for you. The mind really does boggle in the case of the aforementioned page: it’s a very passionate dog doing a duet with a bird, of course, what did you expect?

And it’s not just videos. This web-site has tons of crazy pics for you to see and laugh at. How’s that for a bit of doggy-style?

And have no fear if you’re more of a cat person. The site also has funny cat pics too, so you should never get bored. In fact, you might just go the other way and become addicted.

Who knows why we love to laugh at cats and dogs? My guess is it’s because they are so human. We have a Greyhound who can be quiet and happy enough relaxing one minute, and the next she’s up, her antennae ears listening out for any intruder who might be coming down the road. Then she’ll turn around and look at you, eyebrows raised as if to say “should I bark? Or is it safe?” Dogs and cats are priceless if you ask me; it’s about time they got their own funny web-site to show off on!

There’s something about the work of Alexander Millar that reminds me of the work of illustrator Raymond Briggs, who provided us with such classics as When the Wind Blows, Father Christmas, and of course, The Snowman. For me, it conjures up a sense of nostalgia, with the image of the small child and the adult figure reminding me very much of the little boy in The Snowman, which in turn reminds me of my own childhood. When we see, hear or smell things that remind us of our childhood years, it can often take us right back to a particular time and even recapture a strong feeling or emotion. It is often said that smell is the most evocative of all of the five senses (excluding the elusive sixth!) and indeed I have often caught a faint waft of a vague scent that has conjured up in me such strong feelings, yet they are often feelings that I am unable to place. Perfumes are more identifiable – nobody forgets the signature scent of a mother, auntie or notorious ex-girlfriend, and everybody is sure to feel nostalgic at the faintest whiff of Old Spice, on which many generations of young men were raised. Even more elusive is the scent of a home – unmistakable when entering a family member’s or close friend’s house, yet who knows what their own house truly smells like? We become accustomed to our own smells as they are around us in our everyday lives. Nostalgia can creep up at any point, from anywhere, and when it does, it can be a happy or sad experience. In this age of twitter, facebook and iPads, I fear we are becoming less and less aware of the physical reminders of our past that are all around us, waiting to be experienced, if only we could open our eyes.
